Air Bag & Occupant Restraint System

Air Bag and a Restraint System are the best way to limit injuries to the occupants of a vehicle in the event of a crash. Their purpose is to slow the occupant over the longest possible time and to distribute the crash forces over the largest area possible.

Seatbelts are still the most important restraint device. Today’s lap/shoulder seatbelts are quite advanced compared to the early days of lap only belts. Modern seatbelts typically include a pre-tensioner device to remove seatbelt slack early in a collision. Mechanical load limiters are often installed inside the seatbelt retractor to “playout” webbing during a crash reducing the deceleration force that can cause injuries.

Air Bags are located in critical areas of the vehicle for optimal occupant protection. Crash sensors are positioned around the vehicle and will send a signal to the Air Bag Module to deploy the air bags in the event of a crash.

If the Air Bag Warning Light is illuminated on the dash it means the restraint system will NOT operate if needed. Have Van Loo’s Auto Service diagnose the cause of the restraint system malfunction and repair it to keep you and your loved ones safe.
